Labels and Certifications
Canada Organics

Products that meet the production requirements and contain at least 95 per cent organic content may be labelled as “organic” and feature the new Biologique Canada Organic Logo. This applies to domestic and imported products.
Kosher

The Kashruth Council of Canada is made up of two governing bodies: the Board of Directors, comprised of representatives from the community, and the Rabbinical Vaad Hakashruth of Orthodox Toronto pulpit rabbis. This unified body guides the observance of kosher dietary laws in Canada.
Local Food Plus

Local Food Plus is an award-winning non-profit organization that nurtures regional food economies by certifying farmers and processors for local sustainable food production and helping them connect with buyers of all types and sizes. LFP Certified Local Sustainable farmers and processors reduce or eliminate pesticide use, treat their animals well, conserve soil and water, protect wildlife habitat, provide safe and fair working conditions, reduce energy use, and sell locally wherever possible.
OCPP Certified Organic

Pro-Cert Organic Systems Ltd. (Pro-Cert) certifies 1,700 organic product producers, processors and traders from across Canada and the United-States. Pro-Cert is ISO Guide 65 (EN54011) compliant and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). Pro-Cert is also accredited by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Quebec Government.
Quebec Vrai

Québec Vrai is accredited (no. AC-07-03) for certifying organic products in accordance with ISO / IEC Guide 65:1996 through the Reserved Designations and Added-Value Claims Board (CARTV). This is the only provincial authority that is responsible for the management and protection of reserved designations in Quebec.
US EPA Design for the Environment

Design for the Environment allows manufacturers to put the DfE label on household and commercial products, such as cleaners and detergents, that meet stringent criteria for human and environmental health. Using these products can protect your family’s health and the environment.
Founded in 1988 by the Government of Canada but now recognized world-wide, EcoLogoTM is North America’s largest environmental standard and certification mark. EcoLogo provides customers – public, corporate and consumer – with assurance that the products and services bearing the logo meet stringent standards of environmental leadership.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
FSC is an international certification and labeling system that guarantees that the forest products you purchase come from responsibly managed forests and verified recycled sources. Under FSC certification, forests are certified against a set of strict environmental and social standards, and fibre from certified forests is tracked all the way to the consumer through the chain of custody certification system. The end result is products in the marketplace carrying the FSC ‘check-tree’ logo.
Bullfrog Power

Bullfrog currently provides a 100% green electricity choice to everyone in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario-and now-Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Bullfrog’s electricity comes exclusively from wind and hydro facilities that have been certified as low impact by Environment Canada under its EcoLogoM program instead of from polluting sources like coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear.
QAI Certified Organic

Founded in 1989, QAI offers verification services ensuring that the organic integrity of food and fiber products is preserved from seed to shelf. Headquartered in San Diego, California, QAI maintains operations in Japan, Canada and Latin America with satellite U.S. offices in Minnesota and Vermont.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) label is a sign you are buying wood and paper products from a responsible source, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit.
VQA Ontario

VQA Ontario is Ontario’s Wine Authority, a regulatory agency responsible for maintaining the integrity of local wine appellations and enforcing winemaking and labelling standards. VQA Ontario does not represent the wine industry in Ontario and is not a marketing agency.
LEED

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
California Certified Organic Farmers

Operating since 1973, CCOF is the only full service organic certification and trade association providing premier organic certification programs and trade association benefits to farms, processors, private labelers, retailers, restaurants, brokers, and supporting members including individuals, suppliers and service providers.
USDA National Organic Program

The USDA, AMS, National Organic Program (NOP) accredits private businesses, organizations, and state agencies to certify producers and handlers of agricultural products according to the NOP regulations. The National Organic Program (NOP) develops, implements, and administers national production, handling, and labeling standards.
Organic Crop Improvement Association

OCIA International is one of the world’s oldest, largest and most trusted leaders in the organic certification industry. A nonprofit, member-owned, agricultural organization, OCIA is dedicated to providing the highest quality organic certification services and access to global organic markets.
Quality Assurance International

HACCP

HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
Alternative Energy

Green-e is the nation’s leading independent consumer protection program for the sale of renewable energy and greenhouse gas reductions in the retail market. Green-e offers certification and verification of renewable energy and greenhouse gas mitigation products.
Garantie Bio Ecocert

GarantieBio (now EcoCert), a Quebec organic certification organization, was registered in 1995. Ecocert Canada, as a certification organization, promises to verify that production standards are respected by conducting annual and unannounced visits and deliver a certificate attesting to the conformity of each product produced with organic production methods after a control is completed.

A group of 24 organizations working to secure a better deal for producers. Fair Trade Internation sets international Fairtrade standards and supports Fairtrade producers.
Fairtrade Canada

TransFair Canada is a national, nonprofit Fair Trade certification organization, and the only Canadian member of the Fairtrade Labelling Organizations (FLO) International. TransFair Canada is involved in the certification, licensing and promotion of Fair Trade.

LETIS S.A., Quality certifier, is the International certifier of reference in agro-alimentary certification, with the active participation of all of its integrants, emphasizing personalized attention and the development of innovative technology.
Cradle to Cradle 
Cradle to Cradle® Certification is a multi-attribute eco-label that assesses a product’s safety to humans and the environment and design for future life cycles.
Leaping Bunny 
The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program administers a cruelty-free standard and the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo for companies producing cosmetics or household products. The Leaping Bunny Program provides the best assurance that no animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers.
